Charles Schadel

I am a self taught artist who studied under the mentorship of master plain aire painters, Albert Handell , George Strickland, Ken Backus and Foster Caddell. Since retiring in 1990, painting in oils, has been my major activity. Painting in plain air allows me to explore the beauty of nature; the glorious light, color, shapes and my emotional reaction to a place.

Back in the studio, a field study may invoke new feelings so I do a larger, more reflective painting. Ultimately, I want to share my experience with others to enhance their understanding of nature and our place in it. I am thankful for the calling to be an interpreter of Gods' creation.
